About Gratiot Woods Co-op Senior Apartments
Gratiot Woods Co-op is a 3-story, 65 unit, senior community that offers the enjoyment and freedom that comes with independent living aged 62+. Gratiot Woods Co-op is nationally recognized as A Community of Quality by the National Affordable Housing Management Association.
Gratiot Woods Co-op is gradually transforming into a 100% smoke free co-op. While no one is allowed to smoke in any common area of the building and within 25 feet of the building, there are approximately 20 members who are still permitted to smoke in their own apartments because they signed a waiver prior to the full implementation of the new smoking rules. All new members as of March 23, 2016 are not allowed to smoke inside their own apartment.
Gratiot Woods members have the opportunity to engage in numerous social activities. Do not miss out on bingo, gardening, card playing, Nintendo Wii bowling or just relaxing in front of the large screen TV with friends during movie night. Although members here have the best pot-lucks and BBQs in Michigan, there are also many catered events and numerous social engagements which provide opportunities to be a part of this active community. There is an onsite computer center for resident use as well as free wireless internet access for all residents. Floor, council and general membership meetings are held monthly and ensure a democratically-controlled co-op.
The Co-op is one of the best-served areas for bus transportation. There are lines on Gratiot, Warren, Cadillac, Mack, Harper and Conner to name just a few in the area. These lines, four of which are within two to four blocks of the building, connect to virtually every route in the city of Detroit. Gratiot Woods is conveniently located within Detroits historic area, only blocks away from easy freeway access via Gratiot and I-94 intersection. Only minutes from the Detroit casinos and all of the wonderful dining experiences waiting to be enjoyed there.
