About Harris Co-Other DHAP Only

Within a three year span, Harris County was impacted by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Dolly, Gustav and Ike. Natural disasters like these leave families displaced and in desperate need of assistance. In response to this need, HCHA created the Nation's first disaster housing voucher and facilitated the Disaster Housing Assistance Program providing emergency housing for more than 26,000 families across the U.S. HCHA also developed a National Disaster Recovery Model that can be implemented within days in the wake of any disaster.
